Climate App Reviews

63 Customer Reviews:

When it remains connected it works great. The problems that I experience is that the app. indicates it’s offline several times a week which require me to manually adjust the thermostat before it works, or I have to do a complete logon to the app. and hope it connects. I’m a bit disappointed after a few years of flawless operation that I now have to tinker with this so often. Update 10/14/2016: App appears to be more stable since the release of macOS Sierra. I’d like to see a refresh update with the Menu Bar Icon preference actually working etc.

I am looking for a couple of features that have been here since the application’s inception. The notification of “Heating and Cooling” does not work! The Menu Bar icon also does not change from th leaf icon. It’s frustrating that this does not work!

I have been using this app on my Imac for about 6 months now and have had no issues, Works as if you were on the webiste with the same interface. I does use about 98mb of memory, but if your going to run a lot of apps in the background you have to expect this and prepare you computer with enough ram to handle the tasks your gping to give it, that’s way I run 32GB on my mac. Reading some of the other reviews, I have not had any of these problems, the apps opens fast and works the same as if you were on the website. This app was well worth the money spent and I use it more to control my nest than the app on my Samsung note 3 or note 10.1 (2014) tablet. I definitely recommend this app for a convient way to control your Nest products. I would like to see more options for control and longer energy usage history (2 months), but that is up to Nest to fix and has nothing to do with this app. Update: in last 2 weeks Climate has been diconnecting and having a hard time reconnecting, app seems to just sit there spinning and nothing happening. What happened to the support? Been using for a couple years and all of sudden these issues, please fix, thank you.

Well, this one’s on me. I didn’t read the most recent reviews and I got screwed. Nest apparently made some changes that have reduced the utility of this app to that of a desktop shortcut. It certainly is not worth $5 anymore and that’s too bad. I have suggested to the deveioper that he pull this from the App Store.

now wont even show camera feed…just spins….before the past 2 days it would crash…but i could reconnect….now nothing…all plug-ins are current etc…thermostat and nest protect is visible…but all my cameras will not connect…assuming developer has given up keeping up with NEST….but yet still sells it….all my machines are new model….imac….macbook air…all updated daily…so its not me….it WAS handy…..but not the end of the world…devopler should abandon project if he’s not going to keep up the build...

I had been reluctant to spend $4.99 for this app, but decided to give it a try...doesnt work, just places a leaf icon in menu bar ? App customizations dont do anything. Very Disappointed ! I will try to get a refund post haste, but I have my doubts.

Does not work anymore

The app does not work with the new Nest app update and there is no update since then.

No longer works

This no longer works, I suspect the changes at Nest have disabled the application.

Great App & Support

Responsive support - latest update restores full functionality - ignore the one star reviews!

JackBags v1.2.3 · 12 years ago

Everytime I go on my lap top to use this app it’s disconnected. Then I have to spend a long time fiddling around trying to reconnect it. Its very slow and half of the time doesn’t work. Was not worth the money!

Not saving

Every reboot, it looses my username/password. Annoying.

The app does not appear as on the screenshot above. There is no sidebar on the right. I attempted to contact the developer but the site blocks my computer insisting I need javascript because CloudFlare blocks browsers without javascript but my browsers have javascript enabled. I am very frustrated that there is no way to resolve my problem.

El Capitan

Can you update this so it displays the temperature instead of the 2 leaves in el capitan?

Duke_seb v1.3.0 · 10 years ago

its ok a little buggy sometimes and indoor temp wont show in the tool bar as it should . decent but not perfect hopefully some updates will come shortly .

Joefsny · 12 years ago

I agree this is a ok app. made by a great person. But it seems to be slow to refresh. you cant move it. can not see current temp in menu. Honestly i am getting better results just going through safari.

Love the Convenience

I’ve been using this app since I installed my Nest. Very nice to be able to quickly tweak or check my thermostat without running upstairs!

I wrote this on December 17, 2013 "Climate is using 4.32 GB Real Mum and 5.31 Virtual Mem in Activity Monitor. Memory leak." It is February 27, 2014. The app still has a memory leak. Got a beach ball when trying to change the temperature. Checked Activity Monitor and the app is using 7.3 GB of RAM (Real Mem)! FIX IT

Anton Webern · 12 years ago

This app works perfectly and it also supports our Nest smoke alarm. I would highly recommend. I love sitting on my couch and checking the temperature.

This a great app with a simple GUI for controlling my nest. However, after looking at Activity Monitor, the amount of time this app use the CPU (3rd on the list after 2 major system processes), it uses way too much CPU for such a small and simple app. Please optimize the code so that it doesn’t average 1.5-2.0% CPU on my 2012 MBP.
